Your guide to fishing in Summit Metro Parks

It’s the time of year when the thought of fishing floats back to the surface of many peoples’ minds. We’re gearing up to host anglers in the coming months by stocking our lakes and ponds, and we have some fresh new web features to enhance the fishing experience in our parks.

FISH STOCKING

Each year, Summit Metro Parks stocks fish to enhance the visitor experience. On April 7, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) will add 2,500 trout to Little Turtle Pond for the annual Trout Derby in Firestone Metro Park — a popular kids’ event hosted by the Goodyear Hunting and Fishing Club. ODNR will also stock 2,500 trout on April 12 at Silver Creek Lake in Silver Creek Metro Park. At Nimisila Reservoir, ODNR will provide 74,300 walleye fingerlings on May 15.

The remaining fish stockings are provided by Fenders Fish Hatchery.
